Late in the evening my muse kissed my cheek
She said darling don’t confuse as I speak
There are words better left to fade away
The sun will shine if perhaps not today
Now if Nero had only learned to play the horn
History would not torture him with scorn
Poems and poetry are like a women’s mind
Look more than once to see what you find
You give you take sometimes you just exist
Never mock a gorilla even if hidden by the mist
Detroit Red said things that are righteously true
But the best laid plans are not always the things to do
Logic is only a philosophical convention
There are fundamentals professors never mention
Like how to make sure you bring in the score
You can win every battle and still lose the war
So here is a circle in two dimensional space
God may seem cruel but in darkness abounds grace
I said hold on a man can only write so fast
It was the climax as the future kissed the past
A mirage is a miracle an oasis of the eyes
Take nothing for granted truth trickles into lies
So long I did you wrong but thanks for the ride
Let me introduce you to Pilate he’s still on your side
Ah I’m an independent woman I need no restraints
We all must spackle before our master artist paints
I had a feeling the best was yet to overcome
My head vibrated yet my feet felt so numb
She said darling don’t confuse as I speak
There are words better left to fade away
The sun will shine if perhaps not today
Now if Nero had only learned to play the horn
History would not torture him with scorn
